THE O.S.N.C. DEMANDS THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF RONDA REPLACE THE STATUE OF BLAS INFANTE IN ITS PREVIOUS SITE IN PLAZA DEL SOCORRO

The Organization of Stateless Nations and Colonies, informed that the statue in homage to Blas Infante has been removed from its site in the Relief Square of the town, under the pretext of pavement reform, but after four years has not been returned to the same place, it informs the Local City Council of its strongest repulsed, because it implies contempt for the figure of the one who was killed for having defended the rights of the Andalusians, who anticipated his time to defend the nature, animals, the rights of women, children, day laborers, Andalusians in general.

Removing the Monument "is an attempt to enhance oblivion," said the president of the international organization, Pedro I. Altamirano. "The City Council, with its mayor in the foreground, should acknowledge its mistake and immediately replace the statue to the place where it should never have been removed." Blas Infante elected the city of Ronda for the holding of the First Congress of Andalusian Entities, held in 1918, Congress in which the flag was chosen, based on that used since the 10th century, first in Almería and Seville and walked through Andalusia on the occasion of all the uprisings and claims made by the Andalusians during all these centuries, to the present day. The other symbol approved in 1918, the shield, though based available in the information available at the time, it refers to the History of Andalusia and its importance since ancient times. The third, the hymn, based on the mowing songs, in turn reminiscent of the agricultural song "El Santo Dios", had to wait until July 10, 1936.

Infante's work reached much more. His books, the three later congresses in 1919, 1931 and 1936, his articles, his work in general, give a full idea of the capacity, interest and full dedication of a man to his Fatherland and his people. That that capacity and that surrender will motivate the vile murder of the early morning of August 11, says much of the low human value of his killers, of the defenders of his killers and those who, even today, allow themselves to be insulted, either directly or through the silencing of his work. An embarrassing attitude, like the one assumed in this case by the City council of Ronda, which makes good the saying "it is good born to be grateful", because they do not appreciate the work of Blas Infante for Andalusia and in particular by Ronda.

Therefore, from the CSO, we repudiate the unworthy action of hiding the statue of D. Blas Infante, and we urge the Town Hall of Rondeño to change its attitude and immediately replenish it in the same location where it was removed under the pretext of the change of pavement.
